A town in the USA, named Winona, needs concern about its water quality since its near the top of one of the greatest river water systems.

As human activists have demonstrated against hydraulic fracturing and sand mining, they claim they all need clean fresh drinking water. In overall, after testing the water about seven hundred chemicals are used for fracking which include radioactive isotopes.

Although these isotopes are meant to be there temporary as they’re to track the underground fracking fluids, some radiation in water still remains for over five years.

As outlined in the letter to editor many of these chemicals in addition to the water and sand do form a slurry that gets injected at the wellhead. This can include some five million gallons of well water in its lifetime. So if one wonder whether is well water safe to drink as there are thousands of water wells across the nation, it would sum up to significant loss to the country’s drinking water resources.

The author concludes that there’s a need to seriously consider how to be changing our priority requirements. When thinking about enhancing quality water systems we must focus on energy conservation sustainability too.

Since many months ago public workers have stopped adding flouride to the municipal water supply of Hightstown NJ. This is according to an anonymous tip phoned in to the borough’s public health officer.

Workers have stopped adding flouride to the public water supply after a pipe broke in September of 2010.

Residents and public officials are concerned because the public was never informed of this. The public has been been drinking unflouridated water for 18 months. Local dentists have also expressed concern over the issue.

Two months after the broken pipe was discovered, $17,692.50 was awarded to Main Pool & Chemical Co. to supply fluorosilicic acid for the borough’s water treatment plant throughout 2011 and 2012. No one could actually say whether the money was actually spent.

Fixing the pipe should be inexpensive, but the entire plant would have to be shut down in order to perform the repair. This could be done later in the year when other parts of the plant are scheduled for repair.

Borough administrator Mike Theokas said that the Department of Environmental Protection has been informed of the situation and that the DEP has not cited the borough for the incident. Mayor Steve Kirson commented that, even without flouride, the water is safe to drink and is being tested on a weekly basis.

One of the biggest issues across the world is the price of gas. I remember right before I started driving, gas hadn’t even peaked at $1. Now, the gas is so expensive you can’t even afford to go on long trip, on a vacation, or just leisure driving.

You have to conserve your gas and the money to purchase that gas just to go to work and have the means to live life.

We often take for granted things like this. Other countries have problems, and those problems are sometimes the same and sometimes even worse. In Nigeria, the cost of water exceeds the cost of gasoline. Any normal person would automatically think, why? Why would water cost more than gas? The reasoning behind this, there isn’t much water for them to drink. The first thing that comes to mind would be why is this such a problem? Why is water so scarce for this country? One would think, why not just go to the river or stream and get water from there? That is out of the question, because almost all of the rivers and streams are polluted with chemicals, garbage and other things that shouldn’t be consumed by anyone, or anything. The people who are in charge and the environmental safety department of this country should be notified, and if they are not notified, how can this problem be fixed?

The cost of water shouldn’t cost more than gas, no matter where you go or what you do. Something should be done, children are dying, and adults are dying because they are forced to drink water that is contaminated. Something should be done, but the main question is, What?

Things are big, small, thin, round, and tall. Such as, people, objects, animals, and even things that a human can’t see (or touch) with the bare eye. What people don’t understand or realize is, what lies beneath the physical surface or structure and what is deep within.

What lies beneath that surface is actually what makes up our being, and not just our being, but every single living thing’s being. The biggest person in the world, or even the biggest tree is made up of things that are so small; you have to use some kind of aide to help visualize its true being. Research shows that the human eye only sees things on a certain level of size, which is about “one tenth of a millimeter or four thousandths of an inch”—without any kind of aid, such as a microscope.

When it comes to scientific organisms, things are measured differently than if we just needed something measured for basic necessity. Scientific measurements are done by using a “metric” system. The most common method is called Scientific Notation. For example, imagine you could shrink yourself to the size of other small creatures, you could then get an idea of what it’s like to see things in the size it really is. It is truly amazing just how much smaller everything else actually is compared to what we think it is. This article takes you on a tour. It lets you put yourself in the situation and explains how you can mathematically put yourself into the equation and imagine you were just as small as that little animal, insect, cell or small molecule. It makes it fun and it puts things into perspective, in a very fun and educational way.

Well water is a great option for those of us who live in areas where county water isn’t an option. It has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages? No water bills, no worries about using too much and you don’t have to remember to pay the bill.

The disadvantages? It can run up the electricity bill, sometimes the water pump will freeze up in the winter, and the pips will burst, and you may have to go without water for long periods of time.

Studies show that well water has high levels or fluoride. This can cause the enamel on the teeth to weaken and cause brittle, weak and sensitive teeth. Stanford Advocate website shows that the health department signed up 1,200 people to take part in the well water testing. Home owners seem to be okay with this new way of water because of a contamination a few years ago that got into their local water supply.

The health department also offered free water testing in order to get a perspective on the seriousness of the contamination. After testing a set amount of people’s water for the pesticides, hundreds of residents finally decided to sign up for the services and realized that the contamination was an unavoidable issue.

The most important thing about the whole situation is to make sure that people are finally agreeing and doing something about the contamination and make sure the water is safe for everyone.

Everyone loves coffee, but coffee can do more than provide an early morning kick or an after-dinner drink. In fact, scientists and researchers at the City College of New York, located in New York City, found a way to use old coffee grounds to get rid of the rancid smell associated with sewer gas.

According to the researchers, the nitrogen hidden inside caffeine offers the solution to the stink. Nitrogen enables carbon to reduce the amount of sulfur in the air in an efficient and effective manner. The researchers created a filter that added carbon to the coffee grounds, which helped reduce the stench associated with the hydrogen sulfide gas found in sewers.

Since the human nose can grow accustomed to this gas, the work of the researchers is especially important. The researchers also hope to increase the popularity of the sustainability movement through their work. Since many households already drink coffee frequently, Professor Bandosz, a City College scientist, hopes that commercial developments can employ these old grounds to create new filters for households across America.

The article addresses the events surrounding World Water Week, which occurred on September 2010 in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme of the World Water Week was “dirty water,” which proved ironic given Stockholm’s internationally recognized water quality.

Poor water quality presents huge problems to the international community.

Many United Nations leaders commented on the ways in which dirty water poses a challenge to public health. Children die after ingesting unsanitary water, and poorly cleaned water supplies foster diseases, illnesses, and other undesirable conditions. Several problems prevent the world from solving the problem of dirty water. First, countries lack the resources to pay for initiatives that clean water. Secondly, very little international accountability exists for countries that do not implement adequate water sanitation measures.

Big businesses, especially, are responsible for the poor water quality in many places in the developing world. Yet according to Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, businesses also offer the solution to water sanitation challenges, since corporations and other entities can afford the high-priced water treatments that turn dirty water into a clean and sustainable water supply.

A water treatment enhancement partnership between the Division of Water in Kentucky and the Community Action of Kentucky will award economic assistance to advance water treatment systems in seven Kentucky small communities who serve less than 10,000 customers.

The Capacity Development Assistance Program for Small Water Treatment Systems will prove to be more cost-effective through technical, managerial and financial improvements.

Small Water Treatment – Big Headache

Smaller facilities face the same challenges as larger water treatment plants, but with less money and staff.

The goal of the Capacity Development Assistance Program for Small Water Systems is to allow smaller water treatment plants to complete vital, non-regulatory tasks that would be difficult to pursue otherwise.

Seven Small Water Treatment Facilities

The seven communities chosen to get water treatment funding are the Calhoun Water Works, the Horse Cave Water Company, Bronston Water Association, Monroe County Water District, Wallins Water System, Morgan County Water District, and the Williamsburg Water Department.

Criteria for selection included factors such as equipment, continuing education needs and organizational management.

Grant funding, provided by the (DWSRF) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund through the Commonwealth of Kentucky will allow for important repairs to water plant infrastructures as well as ongoing, preventive maintenance necessary to prevent contamination to drinking water.

The purpose of the program is to produce safe drinking water for all communities in Kentucky.

The AquaClara water purification team headed by environmental and civil engineering senior lecturer Monroe Weber-Shirk were able to attend a party during their two week stay in the Country of Honduras.

The party was for the new water purification system that these Cornell students developed that is now, after a four year campaign giving citizens of Honduras clean drinking water.

This trip to Honduras is the seventh annual trip where AquaClara water purification team members are able to interact with the people whose lives they have changed. Through the partnership between AquaClara and a Honduran not-for-profit company called ‘Agua Para el Pueblo (APP)’, knowledge of clean water has been brought to many of the surrounding people. The system of water filtration and o ring lubricant was cultivated by many of the people that have gotten to go down and see them in action.

One of the major factors that makes this system so great is the fact that it does not require pumps and in third world countries where electricity is not as easy to come by this can change an impoverished nation. The water at the newly opened Tamara plant in Honduras is now exceeding the standards set by the World Health Organization and is so clean that when the AquaClara team got to the Tamara plant, they had no problem filling their own water bottles.

In the early 1990′s Naveen Luthra and a friend named Deepak Mohan made a trip to India. After meeting some landowners Luthra decided he liked the place and bought 100 acres. With the idea of “doing something when he would retire” Luthra said.

Between 1996 and 2000 he accumulated more land. He planned to develop a “cave-room” hotel at the site.

“I realized I will need huge amounts of supplies especially for the hotel project, and started looking around” Says Luthra. One day a local approached him and informed him that the property had a natural spring that could solve his water dilemma. Luthra then had two pumps installed and started drilling.

Little did he know that he had drilled into a biological hotspot. British environmentalist Norman Myers says there are two strict criteria to qualify as a hotspot and Luthras’ site met both. Luthra then spent four years trying to find the best way to bottle the water. Launching Mulshi Springs briefly in 2008, then finally in 2009 the product was ready to launch. Immediately after the launch Oberoi Group chairman P R S or ‘Biki’ Oberoi inspected the plant and approved its use under their private label L’Quila in his hotels.

Today the Oberoi group buys 17,000 bottles a day. Mulshi spring is even available at Colette (one of the finest water bars in the world). Luthra states that “We may look at commercial exports in 2013-14″.
